Comfort Zone

Comfort Zone

Hello friends! We all have gone through a phase in our lives where we have felt that to achieve something we have to get out of our comfort zone. So, let’s dig more into this zone.

A comfort zone is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, comfortable, secure, at ease, and sheltered. Moreover, a situation in which you feel comfortable and you do not have to do anything new or difficult. It can be considered a place of comfort. It involves little or no risk, no real challenges, and no new experiences.

The comfort zone restricts your potential for growth and happiness. Basically, it limits your ability to learn and try new things because the familiar is comfortable, we limit our personal growth and become complacent about our surroundings. Moreover, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to get success.

Is comfort zone good or bad?

There is no particular answer to this question. It may be good for those who are happy being in their comfort zone and getting what they desire. But it may be bad for those who are not content in their lives and are still hesitating or not willing (due to any reason) to get out of that zone. Expanding your comfort zone is all about inspiring and motivating yourself in a way that honors your complete person. It’s not ‘I’m going to be perfect at everything,’ it’s about not being scared to try. However, a person who has adapted to his/her environment will feel more confident than one who has not adapted.

Running away from your comfort zone from time to time creates enough stress to divert your focus, creativity, pace, and drive. It helps you to tackle life stress when unexpected things happen. People take shelter out of their comfort zone when they want to avoid risk because they are afraid of failure or rejection by others.

Some examples of the comfort zone

  • Sticking to a job you hate.
  • Not making an effort to exercise.
  • Don’t want to work away from home.
  • The usual method of doing things.
  • Don’t interact with new people.
  • Thinking you have no talent.

A peaceful state, but nothing ever grows there.

If you want to push your limits, you have to leave your comfort zone. You can’t learn anything new if you stay in your comfort zone and never step outside of it. No matter how much we are told that “comfort zones” are an important part of getting things done allowing us time and space for reflection before moving on (or even just going through life) the truth is that they hold us back from achieving our goals because they prevent us from doing what needs doing or being open enough for others around us who need help too!

Why is it always so hard to get out of your comfort zone?

However, to avoid feelings of anxiety or stress, and pain, people want to remain in their comfort zone. Anything outside this zone creates uncertainty, and uncertainty makes us feel anxious. Naturally, human beings are wired to avoid these kinds of feelings. This makes them reluctant to leave their safe zone.

However, this is true that getting out of your comfort zone is not an easy task. You have to put in extra effort and gather the courage to take that step.

When you are unhappy with something you know needs to change but you choose to remain silent or avoid uncomfortable situations in order to protect yourself from being pushed out of your warm and cozy comfort zone. This is a sign that we need to get out of our comfort zone, which will help us grow as individuals and make us stronger people overall.

What happens when you step out of this zone?

Doing something new can be challenging. The more risks you take the more you learn about yourself and the more likely it is that good things will happen to you. Because the familiar is comfortable we limit our personal growth and become complacent about our surroundings.  There are some challenges as well.

  • Scaring: Scaring is perfectly normal. But the best part is you will never let that fear hold you back.
  • You will fail: Failure is a part of success. And failure doesn’t decide your future.
  • You will learn: You will learn new knowledge which will eventually lead to your success.

Results you get-

With everything that happens once you move out of your safe zone, there will be a complete transformation in you.

  • You will see yourself differently: You’re capable of much more than you’ve shown in the past.
  • Your comfort zone will expand: You will be able to do what you were scared of doing before. This will make your life flexible.
  • You will increase your concentration and focus: This will boost your confidence. You’re forced to concentrate and focus on the new action in a way you never do in your safe zone.
  • You will develop new skills:  When you learn new skills, there’s no limit to how much you can achieve.
  • You will achieve more than before: The new skills will change how you see yourself. As a result, this will enable you to achieve more than before.
  • You will learn to deal with challenges.
  • You will get new opportunities that ultimately help you to grow.

All these will change how you see yourself, encouraging you to step further out of your safe zone.

Conclusion

When you’re in a comfort zone, you don’t feel any fear or anxiety. You aren’t afraid of anything new because you know it won’t hurt. You can relax and stay in your little world of safety and security. And that’s not a bad thing! It just means that we have to take risks sometimes so we can grow as people and become better versions of ourselves.
