Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by automatic machines, especially computer systems. Some applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition, and machine vision.

AI basically focuses on three cognitive skills: reasoning, learning, and self-correction.

  • Reasoning skills- They concentrate on choosing the right algorithm to reach the desired outcome.
  • Learning skills- These skills focus on acquiring data and creating rules for how to turn the data into information that will act.
  • Self-correction- AI is designed to continuously fine-valid algorithms and ensure they provide the most accurate results possible.

Why Artificial Intelligence is important?

 AI can perform tasks better than human beings. Specifically when it comes to repetition, detail-oriented tasks like analyzing large numbers of legal documents to ensure relevant fields are filled in properly.

In today’s world Uber has become one of the largest companies in the world using it. It utilizes sophisticated machine learning algorithms to predict when people are likely to need rides in certain areas or not, which helps proactively get drivers on the road before they’re needed. 

Another example is Google has become one of the largest leaders in a range of online services by using machine learning to understand how people use their services and then improve them.

Strong AI vs Weak AI 

Strong AI refers to a hypothetical machine that exhibits human cognitive abilities while Weak AI or narrow AI is a form of artificial intelligence that refers to the use of pioneer algorithms to accomplish specific problem-solving or reasoning tasks that do not encompass the full range of human cognitive abilities.

  • If we see the functionality, they are limited in weak AI as compared to strong AI.
  • The goal of weak AI is to develop a technology that allows machines and computers to accomplish specific problem-solving or reasoning tasks at a significantly faster pace than a human can while the goal of strong AI is to develop artificial intelligence to the point where it can be considered true human intelligence. Strong AI is a type that does not exist yet in its true form.

Advantages of AI:

Artificial Intelligence is one of the developing technologies which tries to simulate human reasoning in AI systems. 

1. Decrease in Human errors

In artificial intelligence, decisions are taken from previously gathered data by applying a certain set of algorithms. So in that case errors get reduced and the chance of reaching accuracy with a greater degree of precision is a possibility

2. Availability 

An Average human can only work for 4–6 hours a day excluding breaks. Humans are built in such a way to get some time out for refreshing themselves and get ready for a new day of work and they even have weekends off to stay intact with their work life and personal life also. But by using AI we can make machines work 24×7 without any breaks and they don’t even get bored, like humans.

3. Assist digitally

             Some of the highly developed organizations use digital assistants to interact with users and customers which saves the need for human resources. Digital assistants are also used in many websites to provide things whatever the users want.  We can chat with them or text them for any query or about what we are looking for. Some chatbots are designed in such a way that it’s become hard to determine whether we’re chatting with a chatbot or a human being.

Applications that we use on daily basis such as Apple’s Siri, Window’s Cortana, and Google’s OK. Google is frequently used in our daily routine whether it is for searching a location via google maps, taking a selfie, making a phone call, replying to a mail, and many more.

5. Other

AI will help humans solve a number of complex problems. Now doctors can predict breast cancer in women at earlier stages using advanced AI-based technologies. Also, we can make machines take decisions faster than a human and carry out actions quicker. In banks, we usually see many verifications of documents to get a loan which is a repetitive task for the owner of the bank. By using AI Cognitive Automation the owner can speed up the process of verifying the documents by which both the customers and the owner will be benefited.

Disadvantages

Every positive also has a negative impact. As every bright side has a darker version in it then Artificial Intelligence also has some disadvantages. These are-

  • Expensive
  • Excessive laziness of humans
  • No emotions only practicality
  • Unemployment leads to poverty and population increase.
  • Rise of robots, and less use of human brains to find innovative solutions.
  • Need repairing and maintenance.
  • No team management and cooperation.

Conclusion

As AI creates a place and replaces machines, it doesn’t lag the humans. None of the AI applications made at that scale can destroy or enslave humanity.
